"Everywhere" is a vocal by British-American stone band Fleetwood Mac from their fourteenth studio anthology, Tango in the Night (1987). The song was written by Christine McVie, who as well performed lead vocals, and produced by Lindsey Buckingham and Richard Dashut. In the U.s.a., "Everywhere" was released as the fourth single from Tango in the Night in November 1987,[ citation needed ] while in the United Kingdom, it was issued equally the album's fifth single on 21 March 1988.[1]

The unmarried peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number ane on the Adult Contemporary chart, remaining there for three weeks.[2] In the United kingdom, "Everywhere" peaked at number 4 and was certified triple platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for sales and streams of oner 1.8 million units. "Everywhere" also reached number ane in Belgium and on the Canadian adult contemporary nautical chart while becoming a top-ten hit in several other countries.

In March 2013, after featuring in an advertisement for U.k. mobile phone provider 3,[three] "Everywhere" re-entered the UK Singles Chart, ascent to number fifteen.

In the 2019 BBC Four documentary, Fleetwood Mac's Songbird – Christine McVie, Richard Dashut, the co-producer of Tango in the Night, briefly talked about the intro: "That's a half-speed acoustic guitar and electric combined". McVie herself also talked nigh the song'southward intro: "He [Buckingham] slowed the tape down, really slowly, and played the parts slowly, and then when it came to the right speed, it sounded bloody amazing".

A twelve-inch single was issued which featured an extended dance version and dub version. "Everywhere" besides marked the beginning CD unmarried release past the band in most territories.[ citation needed ] All of the formats included the B-side "When I See You Again", a song taken from Tango in the Night; the 12-inch format featured an extended mix of "Everywhere" and the mini-CD single contained the bonus tracks "Rhiannon" and "Say You Love Me" from Fleetwood Mac'south unmarried-titled tenth studio album Fleetwood Mac (1975).

In that location are two versions of the music video for "Everywhere". One features members Christine McVie, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood. The other video does non feature the ring at all and is a visual depiction of the poem "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes.

Everywhere was recorded by Irish singer Niall Horan and English language singer Anne-Marie and released on xix Nov 2021 for that year's BBC Children in Need appeal, supported past BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2.[32]

The song featured English singers Ed Sheeran on guitar, Griff on the synthesizers and Yungblud on the bass.[32] Fleetwood Mac's vocalist and keyboardist Christine McVie praised the cover saying, "I'm thrilled with this new version of Everywhere and to be office of this yr's Children in Need campaign."[33] The song peaked at number 23 on the UK Singles Nautical chart and at number 49 on the Irish Singles Nautical chart.[34] [35]

  • In 1996, the song was covered by American R&B/funk vocalist Chaka Khan on her compilation album, Epiphany: The All-time of Chaka Khan, Vol. 1. Information technology was produced by David Gamson of Scritti Politti fame.
  • In 2005, the vocal was covered by Australian group Moustache, featuring vocaliser Melinda Jackson. This version is a house music embrace that peaked at number nineteen on the Australian Singles Chart in May 2005.[37]
  • In 2008, American indie rock ring Vampire Weekend covered the song and has continued to perform it during live shows.[38]
